GT Trophy Class Honours at Brands Hatch

GT Trophy Brands HatchMike Donovan and Nick Dudfield were winners in the GT400 class at Brands Hatch on the 21st August. After a great Qualifying performance The In2Racing Porsche 911 GT3 lined up in P3 for the 3HRS GT Trophy race on the Brands Hatch GP circuit.

Florida based Mike Donovan a winner earlier in the season in the Dutch Super Car challenge, ran strongly behind the more powerful Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 And the awesome BMW GT being driven by Professional drivers Rob Barff and Phil Keen.

After the 1 hr mark the In2racing car was up to P2 before shortly afterwards taking the lead when the Ferrari pitted for fuel. With a long first stint the In2racing team built on their lead and took advantage of their superior strategy to be ahead by the time driver Mike Donovan pitted for his fuel and driver change at the 80 minute mark.

Good pit work enable Nick to get back out and continue to take the fight to the stunning 458 Ferrari , a series of strong laps saw the in2racing car’s lead over Leon Price now at the wheel of the FF Corse Ferrari 458 grow before a safety car intervention meant the lead was wiped out after the safety car driver failed to pick them up as the leader.

The race soon took another twist with the Ferrari now in the hands of Pro driver Barff incurring first penalty and a puncture, In2racing Porsche was now back in the lead with Nick Dudfield Holding the lead until just before his Pit Stop at the 2 ½ hrs mark. The Race to the flag was a tense affair as the In2racing team ran strongly with their fuel strategy ,whilst the FF Corse looked likely to have to have a splash and dash fuel stop before the end.

Despite the Ferrari lapping the In2racing car near the finish the In2racing Porsche ran strongly to the flag to claim the honours for a second consecutive GT trophy race in their class.
