Dutch Super Challenge Win at Donington Park

Mike Donovan Porsche 997In2Racing returned to Donington Park to chase Victory.The In2Racing team and Mike Donovan were competing in rounds 3 & 4 of Dutch Super Car Challenge. Ina very competitive field and up against the Likes Porsche Supercup Driver Jaap Van Laggen. In the Saturday morning qualifying session the team had high hopes of a good position and was not disappointed Mike set a very competitive time in the early part part of the qualifying session however Pole position was snatched in the dying minutes when the track conditions were at their best by the Porsche 997 GT3 of Van Laggen. The In2Racing Porsche GT3 ended up 3rd in class.

Race 1: Mike made a great start and passed the Porsche driven by Dutchman Wolf Nathan, holding off all the attacks from his class rivals until the pit window when Mike had a Pit stop Peanalty of 25 seconds as a guest driver. After the stop Mike was delayed by an Aston Martin GT3 of Ron Marchel leaving the pits and as a result lost his 3 rd place on the road; however a storming drive brought him past and into a podium position.

Race 2: Set up changes from Race 1 meant that improvements to pace were hoped for, however given an additional penalty as a result of success in race 1 the Team and Driver were cautious regarding any result on Sunday. A dry race start was quickly interrupted by a sudden shower across the East midlands Circuit however local knowledge from the team and a calm driver meant that Mike raced up the order from 11th to P7 at the end of lap 1.

The disappointment at the safety car being deployed meant that the teams advantage was quickly taken away however Mike drove with a steady head in difficult conditions and at the pit stop window In2racing pitted Mike in a Quick time and got him back on track in clear space behind the leader in his BMW GT3 who had yet to pit. P1 came to Mike at the end of the Pit stop window and he quickly established a cushion which despite the early race leader closing in. Both the BMW And the Porsche of Van Laggen fell off in the closing stages chasing down the In2racing Porsche , meaning a first Dutch Super Car win of the Season for In2Racing and Mike Donovan. The Next proposed race is at Assen TT circuit in Netherlands on the 4thand 5th June.
