In2Racing made their season debut at the first round of GT Trophy and the infamous circuit of Donington Park. Mike has been a very successful GT Cup winner of the past 3 years. This was the teams and Mikes first competitive meeting of the year.
Partnering Mike Donovan in the Porsche 997 GT3 Porsche was Former BARC Formula Renault Champion Nick Dudfield who last race was as far back as 2007 in the Belcar series in Zolder. The team were up against GT professionals such as Rob Barff and American Indy Lights Driver Ryan Lewis. With limited testing and time in the car the team Mike Donovan manage to put a quick time in with minutes to go in qualifying, the car qualified in 4th place and 1st in class.
Team Principal Nick Dudfield started the race, on the rolling start Nick made a dive down the inside into Redgate to make up two positions and move him in 2nd behind the FF Course Ferrari 430 of Gary Eastwood .The two cars pulled away from the field over the first 45 minutes of the 2 hr Race. Nick was barely 0.5secs off the tail of the Ferrari making numerous efforts to pass the car. A slightly delayed pit Stop meant that Mike Donovan had to put in some great laps in order to pull away from the vastly experienced Ryan Lewis and retain the first place that the team had achieved on the road. Mike then began to create a gap between him the rest of the field, with some consistently quick times. With barely laps to go the team's strict strategy fuel load in the car was coming into effect, halfway through the Penultimate lap the second place Ferrari driven by Rob Barff caught the faltering In2racing car and passed for overall victory . However a determined Donovan somehow got the 997 Porsche to the chequered flag in 2nd overall and in P1 in the GT class.
