1st May saw Dutch Supercar Challenge SS1 championship leader Mike Donovan and In2Racing return to the famous and evocative Nurburgring. Problems resulted in limited testing for Donovan in the In2Racing Porsche 997 but, despite this he still managed a top ten qualifying position, putting the car 8th.
Race 1 saw Dovovan running with success ballast and time penalty from his Silverstone win. A controlled, aggressive drive saw Donovan race through the field, finishing in a strong fifth place and collecting a healthy tally of points.
Race 2 saw the infamous Nurburgring rain play its part in the proceedings, where conditions reward driving talent and a well set up, balanced car. Making the most of the treacherous conditions, Donovan walked the tightrope between speed and adhesion, running as high as second until the compulsory pitstop dropped Donovan back to fifth. A fighting final drive saw Donovan bring the In2Racing Porsche 997 home in 3rd place.
Of the team’s weekend in the Eifel Mountains, team principle Nick Dudfield gave his opinion of the weekend, “We really had the conditions against us this weekend, what with limited testing, Donovan carrying ballast and taking a time penalty in race 1 and then rain in race 2. But despite that Mike drove out of his skin and the set up on the car was near perfect, the team did a fabulous job to produce a car that came away from a difficult weekend with a very healthy bag of points. “
The Nurburgring saw the In2Racing Team confirm their position as real contenders in the SS1 Championship.
